Sparkle Glitch’s ‘Battle Maiden’ is a beautiful ethereal blend of both organic and electronic sounds and patterns. It was published on October 31st, 2024, and consists of six songs touching on concepts such as spirituality, fantasy, loss, healing, and empowerment. Each piece within the EP has been analyzed thoroughly revealing the captivating gems that each composition contains. The first composition on the EP is “Battle Maiden”, which is the most baffling song of the album, yet I found it to be a strong, empowering song as it is one of the first songs incorporating layers into the vocals of the album. The next composition is named “Utopia” which is jam-packed with soft beats and the hardcore vocals of Sparkle Glitch. The fusion of both produces a much calmer feeling, which helps with incorporating the idea of a perfect world.
“Bluebird” emerges as the best song that pours emotions because it is dedicated to the mother’s loss. The combination of natural sounds and some soft layers of the music makes this song extremely personal. For instance, “Boy I Never Knew” is a song that emerges from the lyrics of an EP, which has an interesting tone but does not succeed in empowering me. Distantness and loss are supported by the refrain engaging but still, It would be considered off-theme, but they connect all together as the ending song. Furthermore, the song “Immortal Dryad” allows the listeners to enjoy it without feeling too much pressure but at the same time feels mysterious. The best part of the song is the bee buzz which is part of nature. It adds to the excitement alongside all of the layers which makes it sound much more interesting.
The “Elemental” intended for a soft but stunning surprise by combining organic and electronic instruments and it is evident that it has done its purpose quite successfully. The fusion is pleasant which sounds encouraging alongside textural variety. Hence, ‘Battle Maiden’ produces an amazing EP due to its self-affirmation It is full of strong creative energy. Unlike before this time they have again managed to marry a strong plot with interesting sound engineering. Not only that, these songs make one feel able to deal with all sorts of bitter situations when it seems that there is no way out.
