Earlier this year, NEONE the Wonderer released his first solo single in over three years,
“Call for Anansi.” Marking the beginning of a bold new chapter, the track serves as the lead release from his long-awaited debut EP, due at the end of 2026. “Call for Anansi” introduces a refined and boundary-pushing sound, confidently establishing NEONE as an artist
operating beyond expectation and convention.
Blending Jazz, Grime
and Reggae,
the single draws deeply from the
call-and- response traditions of the Black diaspora. Released during Black History Month in the
United States, it pays homage to
West African and Caribbean folklore through a contemporary reimagining of Anansi the Spider – the legendary trickster and keeper
of stories. Inspired by American Gods and the layered realities of modern life, NEONE delivers
sharp lyricism, rhythm and wit,
bridging ancestral mythology with present-day cultural and political narratives. The result is a track that feels both timeless and
immediate – socially conscious, musically rich, and unapologetically original. With “Call for Anansi,” NEONE the Wonderer not only returns but redefines his artistic direction, setting the tone for what promises to be a compelling and genre-defying
debut project.
