Vinyl Floor have released a new album, titled Balancing Act, out now via Karmanian Records and Gateway Music.
It’s the sixth studio album from the Copenhagen band, made up of brothers Daniel Pedersen and Thomas Charlie Pedersen. Sweden’s Emil Isaksson produced the album, and Søren Vestergaard provided his mixing and mastering skills.
“Balancing Act is an album about trying to balance life and searching for beauty and meaning in a world full of chaos, treason, insecurity, and false promise,” Vinyl Floor said in a statement. “A world which itself currently seems out of balance.”
Over the course of the album’s 13 songs, a host of collaborators accompany the brothers. Bebe Risenfors (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) contributes horns and upright bass. Christian Ellegaard (Danish Symphony Orchestra) adds texture with strings, and Daniel Hecht (Franklin Zoo, The Breakers) is on guitar. Daniel and Thomas Charlie Pedersen share lead vocal duties and play additional instrumentals.
Artist Kristina Jellstam created the album cover painting, and Kristian Kokholm contributed additional album art.
Vinyl Floor formed in 2007. Pulling inspiration from the British pop-rock of the 1960s and 1970s, they specialise in melodic rock with a symphonic and electronic twist.
The brothers have played over 200 shows since the band’s inception, having toured Germany, Japan, and the UK.
