It was a winter of struggle for Van Horton. “I recovered from surgery to repair my right arm from an accident, so all I did was stay in the house and record music with just my left hand” The result is the lead single “the one armed bandit” from his forthcoming EP, “The Light EP”, out March 27th. His newest EP, the second of a two part series, is like if synthwave and groovy house music had a baby. It’s bold, yet carefully engineered and written, reminding the listener of house music in the 80s. “I really wanted a vintage 80s sound, and I think I accomplished that.” In addition to recording and producing, Van Horton continues to play clubs and venues across North Carolina for the rest of the year. “It’s nonstop, and its growing very fast.
