Sun, beats and good vibes – House of Allegro packs this all into their newest album ‘Ola Sol’. Happy, energetic and filled with housey grooves and playfully fun vocalists, each song on the ten-track release is happy and different from the last. The main driving force behind the group Alec has collaborated with new vocalists on each song to create a throwback yet new take on the house music we all love. “Let You Go” kicks the album off, mixed with both English and Spanish vocals from Misetti Huth. The soft piano house beats with a relaxed tropical aesthetic fall perfectly in line with the beachside vibe suggested by the ‘Ola Sol’ name.

“Move Your Body” picks the pace right back up again with some heavier disco, piano house and sprinkles of UK garage. The energy is strong and the song was clearly meant to be played on the dance floor. “Not That Deep” is cheeky. Alec originally began the song as just a sample of a voice with helium in his vocal chords (just for fun), but one of Alec’s featured vocalists, Jakuu, stepped in and added some new, deep vocals to it, and the end result was sleek and poppy. “Night Sky” is soft and ethereal, washing the listener in gentle tones that are dreamy and relaxing – the sound of someone driving at night or the first half of a sunset where you just sit back and relax. “Through The Night”, featuring Marz Fay, is one of the longer songs on the album at just over five minutes. The vocals from Marz Fay are the ones to watch on this song – powerful, and clearly new to the house music game, they make a bold entrance and fit just right.

“Disco Inferno”, the next track on the album, is classic party time. The song has already been played at live shows and left fans up and dancing, for good reason. It takes listeners right back to the disco era in its instrumental drop, and closes the album out well as an instrumental on the end track Disco Inferno (Instrumental). “Never Felt This Way” and “Space-Time” go for deeper house and more emotional, suggestive vocals. They have a smooth, clean and at times minimal vibe that sounds fresh and new, but the older influence is still there. “Do It For Me” is quick to finish the album out with some heavy energy, head-bumping good hooks, and some large drops. A summer listen or a night to listen to before going out? Perfect for either, ‘Ola Sol’ takes the nostalgia from the golden days of house music and flips it on its head with a modern and entirely unique take.
