Max Chaos doesn’t waste any time in letting you know what you’re in for as he lets loose on his debut single “Ride The Wave”. Released on one of the most appropriate days for a track of this magnitude, Friday the 13th, “Ride The Wave” is just as it says: chaotic. It’s heavy, raw, unapologetic, and exactly what you want your first taste of a new artist to be. Max is a multi-faceted individual, and his song writing and voice reflect that in the perfect way, with equal doses of screeching guitar riffs, guttural vocals, and melodic, clean vocal work. As someone that struggles to use music as an outlet for his anger and aggression, Max nails all of the right notes to provide an outlet for that pent up frustration we all have inside. “Ride The Wave” demands no introduction and delivers a relentless attack on your eardrums in the most pleasurable way possible.

“Ride The Wave” is part of a larger concept that has elements on screen as well. The music video takes full advantage of Max’s world and creative direction, jumping back and forth between real life and the musical world inhabited by his cartoon avatar. This animated counterpart lives the dream that many of us fantasize about; driving muscle cars, shredding waves, and blowing out speakers to a full distortion of metal. There’s no better form of therapy than letting your brain wander to these thoughts in times like these, and it’s clear that Max has been under the same pressures as the rest of us trying to pay rent and survive. This is where the use of art, expression, and music become the most beneficial, and it is made explicit in both the lyrics and the animated dimension he created. Metal as a means to escape this grind, under the guise of a high octane, aggressive jam.

Another aspect of this track that makes it feel so complete is the way Max Chaos has built a lane for himself and has so many plans to build that lane into an entire galaxy. Each track will be accompanied by a comic book issue of its own, while even the merchandise, merch shots, and the video feature such a clear and dark visual direction. Max has surrounded himself with an entire team that fully believes in his vision. This first single is clearly the product of not one person but a group of people that love heavy music. The co-producer and drummer on the track, Dan McConomy and Justin Kills respectively, lock in on making sure every part of the production is as heavy as possible, while the bass by Karlos Doom grounds the song and becomes the groovy backbone. Max Chaos doesn’t follow any rules or trends that currently exist. He’s here to make things his own, and it’s a damn thrill to ride along with him on his path.
