Coma Beach’s new EP, “Passion/Bliss”, is a gripping and emotional piece that deals with deep struggles within, and is raw yet fascinating. The EP, which was released in 2025 following their “Scapegoat Revisited” cover in the trio, this last part of the Scapegoat Revisited triptych, brings listeners to the deepest depths of the mind. Coma Beach combines a rage-filled punk rock attitude with sombre alternative rock elements, drawing inspiration from books and existentialism, which makes this album so delicate yet fierce at the same time. “Passion” serves as the starting point for the EP, and the frantic nature of the song captures the emotional breakdown of the antihero fantastically. A blend of distorted vocals and guitar, the song exhibits the emotional isolation of the character. Now free from his sorrowful thoughts, the antihero is really facing a deeper issue; emotional abandonment. The feeling of the void the song gives is brilliantly encapsulated in the stripped-down version of the song.

In “Bliss”, the antihero’s mind is apocalyptic and deeply shattered, and it follows its soul-searching counterpart. The character’s inner breakdown is powerful and chaotic, and so is the track, which builds from quiet intensity to full throttle. The unparalleled drumming and eerie gushing guitars serve to create a terrifying ambience as the antihero perceives the world trapped in a relentless cycle of destruction. The raw emotion and urgency suit the song perfectly while the shorter EP version does well to pack the same punch as its album counterpart. The remaining tracks on the EP provide glimpses into the band’s larger narrative. “Astray (Fallen Angel)” takes a haunting turn with its radio edit, which offers a darker, more atmospheric side of Coma Beach’s sound. The song sticks to themes of self-doubt and loss wrapped with a tight gritty beat. “Nothing Right” pummels into self-sabotaging despair as the radio edit provides an accommodating cut that remains emotionally free.

The track is introspectively covered with the EP marking the end in “The Final Door”. This track serves to symbolize the ultimate confrontation with the self; encapsulating the heavily recurring theme of inner turmoil. Like an agonizingly painful process, the overwhelming body of work serves to let go. To sum up, ‘Passion Blis’ is Coma Beach’s stunning EP. It perfectly displays the band’s ability to blend punk rock fury with philosophical profundity. Every track on the EP has emotional and psychological depth. This makes it a must-listen for fans of music that is raw and unfiltered.
