Josh Jensen’s Americana upbringing is taking a surprising backseat with his new EP ‘Eclectic Mementos’, released on Aug 27, 2025. As the title suggests, this is Josh moving towards downtempo electronic territory with tracks that are sonically grounded in heavy, beat-driven production layered with textural pads and synths. The EP features beats made in FL Studio and produced by Noah Michael, a mixture that is very much percussive-forward with simple synth and guitar/keys parts alongside Josh’s soft, emotive voice. Drawing his influence from Thom Yorke, the record was created as a dedication to Seattle music icon Gary Mula. The four-track effort spans danceable dance-pop with an undercurrent of biting lyricism.

“Tier 7” is an anthem for self-growth and not fitting into prescribed boxes. The throbbing pulsations offer a dissonance to the listener that is counteracted by Jensen’s voice, which offers a warmth and earnestness. “Welcome to the Parasocial Adventure” takes a different tack with a bit more bite to its production, however, and laments our desire to know our favorite artists more than we may want to. The thumping heart of “H34V3N” is its stark look-back and reflection on the lessons of yesterday with the headspace of the future, wondering if knowledge and experience truly changes who you are at your core. The mix of synths and crisp drums offer a landscape of long-term emotion that sticks with the audience. “A day in the life if it was written in 2025” brings the listener back to the present, incorporating simple, everyday themes into a more synthesized soundscape that encompasses relatable lyrics and tight beats.

The four songs of ‘Eclectic Mementos’ diverge from Jensen’s long-held Americana classification to step into a riskier, less familiar realm. While he still relies on his artistically Americana roots, he utilizes that as a jumping-off point to create in the more synth-forward and experimental space. This quality is what makes this EP so effective and an unexpected notch in Jensen’s artistic belt.
