The music video and song titled “Social Genocide” by ALGORERHYTHM was released on October 15, 2024. The song is an absolute reflection on the downsides of social media and how it impacts the society at large. The Band consists of Tom Nieves as a bassist, Karl Christenson as a guitarist, and Brian Hanks as a drummer. The overall concept focuses on the relationship between mental health and social media. It is also the debut single of the band. With perfect riffs accompanied by sharp, piercing vocals and hard-hitting drumming, the group was able to tackle the downside of social media in a thought-provoking manner that is much needed in today’s world. The band was able to point out important social issues without any filters and that’s what made the single “Social Genocide” feel raw and real. Indeed, the single fully showcased the negative side of humanity while still staying close to the reality in the world we currently live in.
With Cody Leavitt working the helm at Asteroid M Records based in Las Vegas, the group was able to perfectly encapsulate the true essence of their sound and provide the listeners with a thrilling experience. Every performance felt flawless due to Cody’s guidance, which was clearly evident and thoroughly enjoyable. “Social Genocide”, ALGORERHYTHM’s debut track, is a level above what the band refers to as the ‘underground’. It can best be described as an ode to the ‘Big Four’ of American heavy metal and the underground punk scene: a guitar piece, skilled at the aggressive side, profound drumming, and the tagline’s demanding vocals that expect high attention. The brutality embedded in the versatile lyrics forces one to shake oneself up and realize that the never-ending scroll through social media isn’t the path to being alive.
The music video serves to emphasize the main message: If you deem yourself to be alive, kindly stop doing these things. This track is entirely self-funded, and the group has set out to reclaim various issues that have caused this genocide of the social era. As a whole, the band has laid down the groundwork for what is to come in the form of sequences and motives. To those of you who have yet to listen to the single, it seems like a teaser laden with emotions. Looking forward to the rest of the band’s work, especially because they serve to confront the bitter social issues head-on. If you happen to be on the lookout for meaningful, mosh-worthy music, ALGORERHYTHM is a name to remember.
