“Playground Twisted Broken” is a metaphorical story that sounds like a loving relationship or marriage that has catastrophically collapsed.
Yet it’s a greater prophetic story and imagery of the modern western church and her behaviours today.
A story echoed through the pages of scripture from the beginning of a loving Bridegroom (God) and His Bride the Church.
In the Old Testament prophets brought the imagery and warnings to the chosen Israelite clans over and over again. Showing a true Bridegroom loves, warns, corrects and disciplines to protect her from others vices or her own poor choices
The New Testament has warnings echoed by John the Baptist, Jesus Himself along with the disciples after His ascension.
The most modern graphic images are issues we are seeing on a scale worse than the writings of the Apostle Paul to the various churches. Where he often dealt with the church about their form, correct Godly leadership structures, our moral behaviours, living under God’s grace not man’s grace applied to allow comfy indulgent lives
Along with this Paul constantly battled with the correct boundaries the church is meant to operate under as written. Those are the higher standards including but not limited to walking in Agape love, equity, dealing with matters with witnesses, not letting moral decay take control to be a peacemaker and deal with matters you see in love and biblically, laying one’s life down for a friend etc
Yet today many churches have had man’s traditions slip in, the world has secretly slipped in, shepherds are replaced with young puppet leaders with no life skills or common sense to reach people where they are at.
Leaders or pastors today are often groomed for an image with no clue or natural leadership gifts; people who would rather be seen from the front; then shepherd from the back, to oversee the flock.
This prophetic song is a timely reminder of surrender, repentance and to live according to the truths in print that are rarely sung, to live as a bride knowing God rather than coming to shattered lives oneday hearing “away from Me, I never knew you”
