George Bolton’s Trancendental is a special music project that doesn’t sound like typical Techno or trance music. The only participant, George Bolton, plays all the synthesizers. He founded Trancendental in Boston in the early 1990s, when the techno music scene started growing and becoming popular. Famous acts like The Orb and Orbital have influenced George Bolton’s unique Trancendental music project.
He began organizing parties, performing in clubs, and working for a college radio station. He wants to revive his music by playing at house parties and DJing in clubs, returning his sound to the electronic music scene. One of Trancendental’s most memorable events was a rave party at a club with different themed rooms. The party featured performances by famous techno bands like Orbital and Aphex Twin. What made it even more unique was that students from MIT wore hazmat suits, checked people in, and signed them up for a mailing list, adding to the party’s futuristic and edgy atmosphere. In his home studio in Boston, George Bolton recorded his new album, “Triumph”. The album returns to its techno and trance roots and considers how the music scene has evolved. Bolton stays true to the heart of Techno while still showing off his unique style and creativity.
The album “Triumph” cover art shows Sisyphus pushing a big rock up a mountain. This image represents the hard work and struggles we all face. George Bolton, unlike Sisyphus, who must continually push the rock up the mountain only for it to roll back down again, identifies with Sisyphus. He hopes that our efforts will be fruitful and not wasted. If you like new and exciting electronic music, check out George Bolton’s Trancendental.
