Casper’s POSSESSION is a 14 track record about the allure of the night life, of fame, of desire and the identities we create in order to be seen. It’s out 6th October 2026 and it’s a mixture of futuristic electro-pop, dance-pop, rock attitude and hip-hop. The whole thing is very deliberately chaotic in order to reflect the character that’s in a constant state of being both confident and insecure. “MERCY”, “RECKLESS” and “ELECTRIC CITY (GET DOWN)” are the more unbridled tracks on the record whereas “FAMOUS TONIGHT” and “V.I.P” are the ones that really zero in on the obsession with being famous, with status and the appeal of being in the spotlight. The titles in themselves speak of a world where the desire for excitement is very hard to separate from the desire for validation. The central question of the record is simply “Who is possessing who?” It’s a very good pop album concept in that it turns the performance of confidence into a battle of identity and control.

As the tracklist progresses the titles suggest various facets of the same disturbed character. “PARTNER IN CRIME” is all about shared madness, “MISERY” is the emotional cost that can be lurking underneath the gloss. “FAAABOI” and “DEGENERATE KING” are very much in keeping with the project’s inherent sense of provocation and exaggeration, a character who is fully in on the madness and will not pretend to be anything other than what they are. “NEW KID ON THE BLOCK” is the one that suggests the pressure of entering a world where image, reputation and self creation are everything. “MEDICATION” is firmly in the darker territory of the album, “STROBE LIGHTS” and “CRASHOUT” are the two tracks that suggest the intensity and volatility of a life lived at full tilt. “LAND OF MAKE BELIEVE” is the one that brings the whole album’s concern with the nature of constructed reality into focus, a track that is about the land of make believe and the roles we all play. The actual lyrics and arrangements of the songs are not provided in the material but the titles and the overall theme of the album clearly form a coherent narrative thread running through the night life, the insecurity, the ambition and the self delusion.

CASPER builds this world through distorted synths, aggressive dance production, electric guitars, processed vocals and an unashamedly theatrical pop sensibility. Rather than trying to force all 14 tracks into one single mould he draws on the club pop of the early 2000s, the electronic experimentation of the time, the hip-hop swagger and the rock excess. The influences are as varied as you could possibly get from Lady Gaga and Kesha through to Justin Timberlake, Daft Punk, Timbaland, Mötley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses. The most interesting concept though is that of the record itself; CASPER describes the songs as being from different people, different memories and different versions of his life, all of which ultimately come together. That makes POSSESSION a very compelling record in terms of the question of what happens when your public persona becomes something greater than the person who created it. “Every version of me fighting for control at the same time” is how he puts it and that is the very essence of the record. POSSESSION is ultimately a record about pop excess as both an escape and a potential prison, and the question of whether that persona is simply a performance or whether it can take over entirely.
