The EP by ‘You Bred Raptors’, “Telemarketer Terrorists”, is a concoction of sound, narrative, and feelings and is a masterpiece in its own right. With the use of vintage instruments, the style original and distinctive, the project appears to be both known and unknown at the same time. Every song is distinct in its way which makes the EP fun to listen to the full length of it.

The first song in the tracklist is “Loading and Unloading White Zone”. The tempo throughout the song is constant and builds in crescendo with accents from the lyrics being sung and bits from the analogue synthesizers. As with the title, so too is the music rather odd. The song blends aspects such as a warm atmosphere, gentle percussion, and soft melodies, which should preferably be used in a movie soundtrack, beautifully. This is quite an effective opening to the EP as it intrigues the audience to listen further. The EP’s title song, “Telemarketer Terrorists”, is the most notable track in the EP. It begins with poetry but rapidly moves on to energetic talk, it introduces a mix of rhythmic beats and spoken word. Achieving such a rough sound and style is easy with the use of vintage analogue and percussion equipment; the heavy-duty machines always do the right job. Storytelling and telling the truth is a vital theme for the song and it is the focal point of the piece. This is to be expected, considering the centrepiece of the EP is this song.

The rich and powerful lyrics of the last song, “Like a Kid That’s Found His Dad’s Gun”, are accompanied by slightly melancholy sounds and a moderate tempo. It is quite rude to put an end to an EP with such a strong song that is so evocative as not only do the lyrics leave the audience wondering, but the sounds do as well. The world built unto itself in the song would leave anyone wanting more. “You Bred Raptors” have some of the most appealing sound and visually inspiring storytelling, giving them a well-earned 10/10 while also being masters with a brutal touch.
