The debut album by Ivan Shishkov’s project BRAINMAZE is called ‘When Your Demons Come’. It is an entire therapeutic outburst, both its recording and listening are just an absolute rush of emotions and feelings, which many do not even allow themselves to think about. The title track, “Fear” starts rather slowly and uncertainly. Bass guitar intro hooks and instantly grabs attention, then one by one, other instruments get involved, and the excitement multiplies.
The next song, “Spite” gets off to a wild start with violent guitar riffs and sneering vocals. The third song “Despair” is executed in a slow and heavy tempo. An unexpected, thoughtful solo by German Maldonado, which at first, I could not understand what I was listening to, and the moment when his hands stop playing is the true peak of this track.

Fourth track “Hatred” is built on a very violent rhythm and a rather screaming vocal. The fifth song, “Uncertainty”, at first gets off to an even start, then it accelerates for a while, then everything slows down. All this is so confusing as is the feeling of uncertainty. The next one, “Disillusion”, strips things back a bit and lets the bass again. “Insanity” begins in a rather whispering form, from time to time rushing, as if someone is running away, in one place, trying to calm down, but just as often breaking out again and breaking out. “Envy” as a musical composition is very tight and technical at the same time, and anger was performed to a considerable extent and with a rather harsh intonation. “Anger” literally hits with sound without any foreplay or hesitation.

And the last “I’m Terrified”, the author as it were, completed his creation, but the state in which the listener’s soul is, it’s awful. Because all the instrument tension, nerves, and screaming are already unrolled and exhausted. On the whole, the vocals on this track are cold, it literally sounds like you are listening to aftermath. Each song of the album ‘When Your Demons Come’ has an interesting and different build, a good approach. The international collaborations don’t just add technical strength, they give the album a global weight. The feeling is the same as after a bad dream, at the same time the song turned out to be rather massive and, as if pumping air from it, makes it sound a bit longer than usual. In addition, the musicians showed their very best, to create such a project.
