Grammy winner Scott Spray provides a warm, felt-bassline throughout the song to support the groove while Tim Dehuff’s lead guitar work weaves throughout providing colour and movement. Tom Naggy’s drums provide a soulful pocket throughout while Kevin Monroe and Devotion’s back up vocals provide the hook with lush choral movement. Matt Oestreicher’s orchestration weaves in and around the rhythm section to provide a lush sense of chordal harmonies and support. This entire project was given a critical ear by producer Vic Steffens at Horizon Music Group in West Haven, CT to provide the listener with a blend of individual parts while still breathing life and intent throughout the whole.
The most significant element of “You Gotta Know” is its heart. Ed Daniels wanted to write a song that would start a discussion. He wanted to feel again that music still had something honest and real to offer and, with this song, his wishes are more than fulfilled.
