‘Urban Echoes of Soul’ is Soul Provider’s latest, and this album honours R&B and Soul standard pieces with some added modern accents. This 14-track album features some amazing musicians and singers who help realize Kent B. Nyberg gets vision. The album starts with the title track, “Divided Souls”, which showcases deep sentiments complemented by Luna Velvet’s soft bass. It also contains Jon Herington’s rigid electric guitar and Jeff Lorber’s subtle piano, which makes this song sound extraordinarily strong. Some of the most pleasant music accompanies the remarkable song “Hold on to Your Dreams”. There’s an expectation created by the flow, as Gregory Moore’s electric guitar and Jack Stafford’s saxophone enhance imagination. The words are filled with hope and serve the dual purpose of promoting and comforting. “Freedom Fire” is the fusion of Nyberg’s drum and Brent Mason’s guitar, forming an energy-filled sound that inspires movement.
There’s a sharp Pfeiffer piano in “Can’t Walk Away”, which Patrick Lettieri’s guitar complements perfectly, making for an emotional heartwarming feel – emotionally, this is the most effective track on the album. “I Belong to You Sunshine” ends the way that only a piece of fluttering saxophone can, singing the tune of warmth. And when Nole’s organ and Douthit’s saxophone combine, you cannot help but feel that the song “Just Take Me” has been coloured with jazz. “Keep My Fire Burning” is the most introspective song on the album. It is a strong song owing to both lyricism as well as the gentle, soft sounds of McGrath’s acoustic guitar and Nyberg’s drums.

“South to North” and “Power” are superb versions of classical and modern styles performed by the delightful Jack Stafford and Freddie Washington. ‘Urban Echoes Of Soul’ is beyond music, it is a journey. Each song is unique, but combined, they make an unforgettable, heartfelt album.
